Food Fest @ Latest Recipe, Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Known for its lavish buffet, generously lining-up elaborate dishes, Latest Recipe at Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu, Sabah once again wowed us. Its 3 days Food Fest starting 29 November 2018, is something that will amaze diners in the city. The buffet spread is indeed extensive. It reminds us of their Ramadhan Month buffet spread. No wonder Latest Recipe is said to be among the best place in the city, to have buffet dinner.

The choices, endless. From appetizer to main dishes and dessert, diners will be pleased to know that there are more than 100 options, including 13 traditional woks with Nusantara dishes, oven baked marinated beef leg, Chinese and Western dishes, not to mention their colorful, delicious dessert prepared by skillful Chefs. It’s indeed a fest as we saw diners were here and there; jovially and constantly moving around finding their preferred dishes.

Of all buffet stations, we were amazed by these gigantic traditional woks or Kawah where alluring Nusantara dishes await diners. The Nasi Beriyani complemented the dishes. This is the station that we highly recommend you to start for your mains. We did went for second. Well, planning for third but we had to try the dishes from other stations as well!

Latest Recipe’s famous gearbox soup is a must-try! Sinful dish perhaps but it’s absolutely delicious. We were made to understand that cooking this big chunks of meaty bones was a bit complicated, quite a laborious process. It need hours of cooking in order to get the bone marrow soften, melting into the soup. For meat-lovers, this is the ultimate buffet station, a heaven for carnivores!

Another station that we visited served the Oven Roasted “Secret” Marinated Beef Leg. Prepared by Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu Executive Chef Fahdrul, this 40kg beef leg was marinated for 24 hours with special ingredients and roasted over 5 hours. The meat; absolutely tender and tasty.

Vegetarians are not forgotten. There are many stations that serve greens that are indeed fresh. From Ulam-ulaman (Malay Traditional Salad) to western options, they have it all, complete with dressing.

There are some stalls that serves variety dishes from Italian to Chinese options and even ‘small bites’. We particularly love the Creative Italian stall that serves selected dishes from Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu’s Italian Restaurant, Favola. We highly recommend that you try one of their Pasta selections.

Seafood lovers will not be disappointed! There’s generous serving of seafood, cooked in various method, from steamed to fried and even stir-fried. You name it, they have it. The Kam Heong Crab was our favorite. It’s cooked to perfection, the exact way we preferred.

Latest Recipe is also well-known for its alluring dessert of many kinds. At the dessert station in every buffet sessions, it is kind of celebrating Christmas; thanks to its colorful, delicious, well-portioned dessert. In short, the dessert station has never failed to impress us; Food Fest’s included.

The chocolate fountain will sure to make the kids happy, well, adults are allowed to indulge. A heaven for chocolate lovers, we say. The fun didn’t stop there. We spotted another station that served Sugar Candy, freshly made by the staff. All that one need to do is ask and they will cheerfully do one or more if you wish!

Overall and as usual, we were truly amazed with the servings in Latest Recipe’s Food Fest. There were countless options to choose from. It is suffice to say that it is impossible to have all the options in one single session. There are just too many of them, more than 100 options for one to indulge in. Perhaps, people keep coming back here, to Latest Recipe’s buffet sessions for they really want to try all options! A legit reason indeed to come to this 3 days Food Fest!
